Ready for a Fresh Challenge? Two New Classes to Try!

by XSport - April 2015, Edition 14

Now that there’s less snow to shovel, fewer clothes to pile on, and more daylight to perk you up, you want to add a bit of spring in your step... it’s time to try something new!

Your body loves when you take on a fresh challenge, and will reward you with increased fitness. Here are new fitness classes for you to experience, enjoy and be energized by.

Jillian Michaels
Jillian Michaels BodyShred™

Television celebrity trainer Jillian Michaels has a reputation for being tough, and she has both earned it and backed it up with the development of her workout program called BodyShred. If you can’t tell by the name alone, it’s designed to produce the kind of body Jillian is known for herself—strong, lean, and super-fit in every way. These kinds of results are the goal of BodyShred’s high intensity endurance training, which is likely to be one of the most challenging classes you have ever experienced.

The workout is based on the 3-2-1 interval training approach Jillian Michaels swears by: you’ll perform four circuits, each consisting of three minutes of strength exercises, followed by 2 minutes of cardio, then 1 minute of abs. It’s a non-stop push through 30 minutes of sweaty, gut-busting work that leaves no doubt about the champion-level challenge you have met every time you leave the class.

While there will be a little time to set up the class and explain some of the key dynamic exercises, the rest of your BodyShred time will literally be spent shredding your body. Expect everything from deep lunges to long jumps; curls and burpees of all varieties, plenty of planks, and an abundance of abs. The verdict is in—this new class is truly amazing, and you will be too when you take it!

broga
Broga©

Broga® is described as the “stigma-smashing blend of strong yoga and smart fitness.” It's a yoga class geared for men who may not be so sure about yoga class and for men who already know the advantages a fantastic yoga workout can deliver.

In Broga, it’s okay if you can’t touch your toes—it’s not all about bending your body into shapes that seem unnatural. And it’s okay if you can’t sit or stand still for too long—it’s not all about holding poses and finding your breath. What it is about is getting all benefits of yoga’s flexibility work, stress-reducing clarity, plus total body strength and balance, from this blend of yoga postures and functional fitness exercises. All of which bring their own challenges.

If you want to experience a strong class, filled with energy, Broga is that. If you want to experience core-strengthening and increased muscle tone, Broga brings that. If you want to experience an amazing group fitness workout, with all the mind-body benefits of yoga, Broga has that, too. Men like it a lot when they don’t have to be pretzels or gurus. PS--Women like it too, and are also welcome!
