"The Get Fit Challenge...helped me become an overall happier, confident person. I no longer wear baggy t-shirts to the gym, and I’ll even look at myself in the mirror while working out. I wouldn’t be where I am today without this challenge."

I am a gym rat. I don’t know when it started, nor did I ever think in a million years I’d be one. I’ve always been the big girl and just figured I would always be that way, so why even bother trying? I mean I wanted to, but never did. Or when I did, I’d start some crazy intense workout for all of two days and assume “I can do this every day, no problem.” That did not go well. Nor did the plan I wrote on my little white board. No eating fries, pizza, etc. (basically any food I loved.) I told myself “just don’t eat it, how hard can that be?” That whole plan was always a bust and lasted all of a few days. Then I would go back to my normal ways, and I slowly started expanding. It wasn’t until my best friend Izzy suggested we join a gym that I started considering changing my ways, and if it wasn’t for her finding XSport, I don’t know where I would be now.

Of course starting out at XSport wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. I believed that because I was actually in the gym, things would start to change. I still wasn’t even attempting to eat better, and again on the rare days that I would, it would last just that, a day. It wasn’t until over a year after joining and training with Veronika that I started taking things seriously.

I had been working with Veronika since I joined, but saw no results, and I knew it wasn’t her fault. I barely tried most of the time and had no motivation. But then on a vacation in the spring of 2011, I saw a picture of someone that was unrecognizable because of how huge she was. That person was me, and I looked on the verge of exploding. I texted Veronika right then and there and said it was time to really get serious, and she was going to have to kick my butt no matter how much I complained.

Getting back from that vacation I began more than just training. I started taking classes, that yes, at first felt like complete torture, but I now look forward to going. I also actually started paying attention to what I was eating and taking the supplements that Veronika was always trying to get me to take. Not going to lie, I felt like a pill popper when I first started taking everything, from fish oil, to flaxseed, to Thermo Cuts, CLA soft gels and more. But if it wasn’t for the supplements, especially the energy the Thermo Cuts gave me, I don’t think I would have stayed on track.

I had tried the Get Fit Challenge in 2010, and it was like all my other attempts at weight loss; lasting about a week then quitting. But when Veronika told me there was another Get Fit Challenge, I was quick to sign up. I had already lost more than 20 pounds prior to signing up, but I knew I had more to lose and the challenge would be what I really needed.

The Get Fit Challenge didn’t just help me lose weight, but it helped me become an overall happier, confident person. I no longer wear baggy t-shirts to the gym, and I’ll even look at myself in the mirror while working out (something I never would have done prior to the challenge). I’ve learned to use my gym time like a sanctuary, away from the stress of everything. Veronika has turned into a friend, not just a trainer. I might still have weight to lose, but I wouldn’t be where I am today without this challenge.
